How to grow spinach in your garden in 3 steps.
Step 1 – Site preparation
Choose a sunny location. If sowing later in spring, choose partial shade. Dig the ground to make the soil looser. Remove stones and weeds. Level the place. If necessary, you can enrich the soil with garden soil. You can make furrows 1 cm deep.
Step 2 – Insert the tape
Place the tape in the furrow or on leveled ground. Cover with 0.5 cm of soil. Water. You can cut as much of the tape as you need. The ideal sowing time is when the temperature is between 10ºC and 20ºC. You can sow from March to early May, and also September and October. Spinach germinates in about 7-10 days. Once the plants have formed, thin them to 15-20 cm apart.
Step 3 – Care for vegetables
Water regularly, especially during hot, dry periods. The soil should be moist but not rotten. So water often a little at a time. Can be grown in a greenhouse or in pots on the balcony. Note that in high temperatures and drought it starts to flower prematurely. The hot summer months are therefore not a good time to grow spinach. Look out for weeds and remove them promptly.
Spinach is ready for picking in 4 to 6 weeks. Tear off the outer leaves. This will stimulate the formation of new ones and you will have fresh spinach for longer.
* No need to spray with insecticides.
